THANK YOU AND CONGRATS to everyone who came out to the Dothan 6 hour Run in the record-breaking heat! We had a great showing of 18 runners and many wonderful spectators & volunteers for this inaugural event!
The trail turned out to be exactly 3.33 miles long, which worked out perfectly for people who wanted to run a marathon (8 laps = 26.64) or half marathon (4 laps = 13.32) - or just challenge themselves to run as far as they could go.
Below are the results...runners with a * next to their names ran this as a double with Running for the Bay in FL the day before! (Note that once the 6-hour limit had been reached, runners were allowed to finish the lap they were on; this is why some times are slightly over 6 hours.)

Last but not least, many thanks to my parents Linda and Roy for flying out from Oregon to help us out as volunteers, and to the Dothan Runners' Club for the fantastic support & course markings, and to Westgate Park for the beautiful, well-maintained trail! Hope everyone had as much fun as I did :)

Dothan 6 hour Run - Information
Welcome to the Dothan 6 hour Run in Dothan, Alabama!
When: Sunday, October 24, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Where: The running trail at Westgate Park, Dothan, AL
REGISTRATION:
Just email me (Morgan Cummings) at morganc@alum.mit.edu with your name, age, gender, and city of residence so I can add you to the list of participants and communicate with you in the days leading up to the race.
This race is FREE, but please email me ahead of time to let me know you are planning to run. I would like to get an idea of how many people are coming so I can buy enough food/drinks. Donations will be accepted to help cover costs, but are certainly not required to participate.
COURSE:
The race will be run on a trail around the park, approximately 3.5 miles long. You can run as many laps as you want, and you can take a break at any time if you wish (as long as you stay close to the course). Once the 6-hour time limit is up you will be allowed to finish the lap you are on, and have it count toward your total # of laps.
AID STATIONS:
The main aid station at the start/finish will be manned and have water, gatorade, and plenty of ultra-type food. There will also be someone there to keep track of your laps. In addition I will set up an unmanned aid station along the course with water and gatorade.
VOLUNTEERS:
If you or a friend or family member is interested in helping out as a volunteer, it would be greatly appreciated! Please send me an email to let me know you are able to help.
RESULTS:
Results will be posted on this site within 24 hours of race completion.
50-STATERS:
For those working on running all 50 states, there is also a marathon in Florida the day before, just a 2.5 hour drive away. I will be at both races; if you are interested in doing the double as well, feel free to get in touch with me.
THANKS!
Last but not least, many thanks to Larry Dykes and the Dothan Runners' Club, for allowing us to use the Westgate running trail as a site for this race!!! Check out their race calendar if you are interested in other races in the area.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?
I will be happy to answer them! Just send me an email. See you in Dothan!!!
